Sunday Representative Prayer for the First Week of January 2025

728x90

Heavenly Father, full of love and grace,

We thank You for allowing us to begin this new year and gather in Your presence on this first Sunday. As Your Word says, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22-23). We are grateful for Your steadfast love that sustains us each day.

Lord, we reflect on the past year and confess our shortcomings and weaknesses. We ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing as we step into this new year. Your Word promises, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). Wash us with the blood of Christ and make us new in Your grace.

As we begin 2025, we commit our lives into Your hands. Help us to live according to Your command: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength” (Deuteronomy 6:5). May we walk in Your light, guided by Your Word, and reflect Your love in all we do.

We lift up our church before You, Lord. May we fulfill our calling as “the body of Christ and individually members of it” (1 Corinthians 12:27). Help us to unite in love and truth, serving one another and sharing the gospel with those around us. Let our church be a light in the darkness and a beacon of hope to the world.

We also pray for our nation and its leaders. Your Word teaches, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people” (Proverbs 14:34). Grant wisdom, integrity, and discernment to those in authority, and bring peace and justice to our land. Help us, as citizens, to pursue unity and love as we seek Your kingdom first.

Lord, we intercede for those who are suffering, whether in body, mind, or spirit. You invite us to come to You, saying, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). Comfort those who are weary, heal the sick, and restore hope to the brokenhearted. Let them experience Your presence and peace.

As we gather for worship today, may Your Spirit move among us. Let Your Word, which is “a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105), guide us and transform our hearts. May our praise and prayers rise to You as a pleasing offering, and may we leave this place renewed in our faith and commitment to You.

We thank You for Your unfailing love and faithfulness. We entrust this new year to You and ask for Your continued presence in our lives. We pray all these things in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
